Venus sign calculator
Find the sign Venus was in when you were born, and what it says about how you love, what you value and who you are drawn to.
How it works
Venus moves through all twelve signs in about a year, staying three to five weeks in most of them and up to four months when it turns retrograde. The calculator uses a table of every moment Venus entered a new sign between 1920 and 2030, computed with the open-source Astronomy Engine library (geocentric positions, tropical zodiac). The table is accurate to about a minute.
Your birth date and time are converted to universal time with the time-zone history of your birth city, taken from your browser. Without a time, the calculator checks the whole day: if Venus changed sign that day, it shows both signs and the exact moment of the change.
Example
Someone born on 21 June 1996 at 14:30 in London has Venus in Gemini. That year Venus stayed in Gemini unusually long, from 3 April to 7 August, because it turned retrograde in May. Anyone born in those four months shares the same Venus sign, whatever their Sun sign.

Questions
- What does my Venus sign mean?
- It describes your love style: what you find attractive, how you show affection and what makes you feel valued. Your Sun sign is your core character; Venus is how that character loves.
- Can my Venus sign be different from my Sun sign?
- Yes. Venus is never more than two signs away from the Sun, so it is often in the same sign as your Sun or in one of the two signs on either side.
- Do I need my birth time?
- Only on the few days a year when Venus changed sign. If your birth date is one of them, the calculator shows both possible signs and the time of the change.
- How accurate is it?
- Positions come from Astronomy Engine and match published ephemerides to within about a minute for sign changes. Time zones use your browser's database, which covers daylight saving history for most places since 1970 and many before.
